Some Recommended SMF Mods

SMF Mods are coding modifications that makes some part of SMF better.  I will put in a list and links to some I recommend using.

OHHHHH.... All the SMF Mods recommended here can be installed without changes to the themes we created specifically for SMF-Nuke.

Anti Spam
Add permissions to group so you can allow them to add links in their posts (images or regular links)

Are You Human? (Anti-Bot Check)
An Anti-Bot Registration check that requires registering users to confirm that they are HUMAN.  Otherwise the registration will not proceed.

Auto Embed Video Clips
Automatically embeds video clips from links for 50+ sites including Youtube/DailyMotion/MetaCafe/Stage6/GoogleVideo without the new for bbcode.

Bookmarks
A simple mod that allows users to easily keep track of their favourite topics.

ColorizeBoards
As the name implies, this mod will optionally colorize your board name and board description.

ColorizePost
This mod will optionally colorize an individual member's post if his/her group is given permission.

Custom Board Sort
This mod allows you to go edit a board in Admin / Boards and set a custom sort order that is different from the default order when you view the board's message index. You can have particular boards be sorted by:
    * Last post
    * Started by
    * Last post
    * Replies
    * Views
    * First post
    * Subject
and you can have it in ascending or descending order. Users can still change the sorting of the board just as they were before.

Custom Profile Field Mod
This mod will add an unlimited number of custom profile fields to SMF. They will be configurable in "Features and Options".

Delete inactive users
It allows you to delete those users that didn't log-in  on your website for X months and Y days. You set the 'X' and the 'Y'.

eMail System for SMF User
Replaces email button with form to send email like phpBB. Helps prevent spam bots from harvesting emails from member list and profiles.

Image Align
This mod adds an align parameter to the img BBC tag. The align parameter functions identical to the HTML <img src="Path" align="parameter" /> tag.

Mp3Tube BBCode Mod
Adds [mp3tube][/mp3tube] bbcode to show mp3tube content.

MySpace Field
This mod will add a MySpace Icon on the Posts screen once entered it in your profile.

Adds a textbox in the user's profile where they can leave notes.

Simple ImageShack
This tweak will install Imageshack.us free image hosting on your SMF forum.

SiteMap
This file adds an extra action to your SMF installation '?action=sitemap' that will show a sitemap to your visitors and bots.  It will not show boards to a user that its not supposed to.  So a guest will not see hidden boards.  It also has added support for SMF queryless urls.

Social Bookmarks
This modification adds icons to social bookmark your topics via upto 30 social bookmarking sites.
By default the 7 most popular social bookmarking sites are enabled.

This Mod Adds to your SSI.php a function that allows you to get all members from a membergroup. This is great for people who run Clan, Guild sites or just need a roster of members..

Streaming
Works only for the default theme, and any theme that uses the default post.template.php. This Mod will allow users to add streaming video and sound (real, quicktime and Windows Media) to their posts with support for rtsp and mms.

Thank You Mod
Adds a "Thank You" button to use in the forum postings.

Topics Filter
Adds some dropdown fields to filter topics on MessageIndex by post-date, attribute filters and quickly change pagination.

This mod replaces the current profile screen with a more colourful User Control Panel , It makes it easier to navigate around the profile options.

Enables you use bbcode to point users to wikipedia pages using wiki bbcode.

Wrap Text Around Image
This mod will create BBCode to float left or float right an image, thus allowing text to wrap around the image.

All SMF Mods will work with any theme, HOWEVER, depending upon how the theme is written depends upon if you will need to manually install the Mod.

This is the reason the themes I create will only affect/change the index.template.php and style.css file.  This way I know that most SMF Mods can be installed without making any changes to the themes I create.  Actually, about the only change that would ever be made in one of the SMF-Nuke themes I create would be adding a link in the navigational bar.

BlackRain, like many other SMF themes, may need some manual installation.  If BlackRain has more template files in it than the index.template.php, then yes, it will require manual installation of some of the SMF Mods listed here.

Another verse to this is I will only recommend SMF Mods that do not require manual installations, or if I do, I will supply how to do the actual manual installation.
